Located no more than a 25-minute speedboat ride from Male, Dhonveli’s proximity and diversity combine to make it one of the most popular destinations in the Maldives. The island is constantly buzzing with action as divers, surfers and beach bums alike find a common ground in the world of excitement this little island has to offer. A trip here is always big fun and you’re bound to find yourself trying something new no matter what reason brings you to our shores.
What’s great about our rooms besides the fact that we have so many to choose from? We’ve got a great view from every corner of the island, of course! This means that no matter where you stay, great sunrises, sunsets and the deep blue Indian Ocean are just outside your window or one of the sun loungers we’ve provided for you on the decks, balconies and verandahs outside your room.
Our 16-acre property has many rooms spread across each corner of the island – and while you maybe here for some action, you don’t necessarily need to be walking from one end of the island to the otherfor a quick bite or a cocktail break. At Dhonveli, we have 3 excellent restaurants serving local fare, international cuisine and succulent seafood in every conceivable form. Add to that our juice bar on the beach and 3 cocktail bars spread across the island and you have convenient acess to our F&B outlets no matter where on the island you are. We also take turns serving the cuisine of a particular part of the world on different nights – this means a stay with us takes you on a gastronomical journey too. For those of you conscious of what you eat – worry not. Each international buffet also comes with a healthy corner just for you. How about a spot of fishing at dawn so you can get our kitchens to prepare your very own catch of the day?
Our Koimala family style restaurant, named after one of our late Queens serves a regal spread across the many tables both indoors and on the beach. Even if you’re in the vicinity of our island, this is a great place to drop by for a relaxing lunch or dinner by the sea. Partitioned into two large dining wings, this thatched-roof venue on the beach is our main restaurant, serving the biggest spread on the island. From Western to Eastern to traditional Maldivian, every conceivable cuisine is a constant at Koimala with our lavish spread and many action stations ready to whip up anything from scrambled eggs to Yorkshire Pudding in moments.
Located by the over-water suites, this exclusive restaurant is for our special guests offering a deck by the ocean for romantic dinners and a tasteful spread of food from around the world. We do suggest you try some traditional Maldivian curries while you’re here though – while they are spicy, we really do know how to do spice right. We maybe a little island resort in the Maldives, but we know how to wine and dine you right in honour of our late Queen Rehendhi after whom this venue was named. The restaurant’s attached bar and wine cellars are among the best-stocked you’ll find on this part of the planet. And when we say our buffets are gourmet, we truly mean it! There won’t be another one for miles serving high-class gastronomy for their daily buffets. Oh, and be sure to try out some of our tender-grilled king prawns for dinner.
There’s a lot to see on our island but only one great place from where you can watch the sunset over the horizon, throwing maddening shades of purple and orange across the cloud-drenched skies. If you’re on our all-inclusive package, this means coming by here for your evening snack and coffee would be a great idea – and while you’re at it, why not throw back a few cocktails when the moon begins to rise? You know what else it’s good for? A romantic candle-lit dinner for two, once the sunset audience has moved elsewhere for the night’s revelries.
If you don’t meet a champion surfer, then you’re not at the right place. The Raalhu Bar has long been the favourite hangout of the surfers on our island because of its fantastic view of Pasta Point’s giant left-handed waves and the surfers riding them back to shore. A la carte, al fresco dining with a great selection of cocktails, international spirits and juices, there really is nowhere else our surfers want to be when they’re not riding the waves. Some evenings are known to bring in flocks of dolphins and others aracouos game of pool and a makeshift dancefloor on the deck as patrons keep themselves occupied until it’s morning and time to hit the waves again.
Order a fresh tropical juice for your afternoons under the sun outside our beach bungalows. While the view is breathtaking the tropical heat is bound to make you thirsty and what better way to cool off than with a chilled juice? Fresh juice is also a great chaser for an island afternoon spent in the company of some rum or vodka.
Somewhere on our island, you’re bound to encounter a Maakana, elegant Grey Herons with their conical black head markings. Similarly, the Maakana restaurant that sits close to Pasta Point and our Garden Bungalows has an iconic circular structure and high cone-shaped thatched roof. Great international cuisine, an action-packed atmosphere and many action stations make it a popular dining venue at our resort in Maldives. Tuck in a hearty meal and watch the surf break or watch a Maakana pass you by.
Why ever leave the comforts of your plush resort rooms when we can bring the food of the soul to the foot of your bed. Wake up one day and decide to stay in bed, call us up and we’ll do the rest. Our room service menu offers a selection of international a la carte dishes, drinks and desserts to make your room your entire world for as long as you want it.
Why even head out of your room unless it is to indulge in a spot of action? When its dinnertime, let us wine and dine you, and your special someone on your private balcony, deck or verandah.Candlelight, an island, wine and the one you love – isn’t that what they call paradise? Call on us and we’ll share with you our selection of gourmet in-room dining specialties for champagne breakfasts and dinners by the sea.
In 1991 Atoll Adventures’ founder the late Tony Hussein Hinde selected the little resort on Kanuoiy Huraa island in North Male Atoll as the location to establish the Maldives first land based surf tour.
It was chosen for one reason…..it’s simply the best location for surfers with the quality and consistency of Pasta Point and the proximity to three other world class waves.

Dive head first into paradise with the wide selection of watersports activities we have on offer here at Cinnamon Dhonveli. Living on a remote island most certainly has its benefits and you won’t feel landlocked for long if you get on a jetskii and rip through the ocean for a mad rush of adrenalin. Maldives has been consistenly famous for the great selection of water sports activities and here on our island, we have it all.
Hold hands and hop on board a traditional Maldivian Dhoni as we take the two of you out to sea for an altogether different dining experience. Our team will join you on board as they prepare an intimate dinner for two.
Walk close to the water’s edge and sit down under a pristine white marquee as we serve you some of the island’s finest cuisine for two.
Sit down as the sun begins to fade across the horizon and sip on tingling glasses of bubbly as our chef prepares an exquisite dinner for two.
One of the great things about Cinnamon Dhonveli is its location, not merely in terms of proximity to the mainland but also because it neighbours some of the greatest dive sites in this part of the world including HP Reef & Banana Reef. Run by Meredis Dive & Relax, a member of the PADI Internation Resort Association and a PADI 5-Star Gold-Palm Resort. Located close to the entrance of the resort, Meredis offers a host of snorkeling and diving options for newcomers and certified divers alike. The discovery of colour, shape, form and species underwater is an indescribable thing. The best possible way to attempt to explain what it is like would be to tell you that you’d probably find the rest of the world an absolute bore once you’ve been down there.
Swimming only in the ocean can be a little exhausting sometimes when you have to fights the currents and waves – only to come up with sand all over you and a wave that crashes you to shore. So why not give the ocean a break and dip into our freshwater swimming pool? Located on the West end of the island between the tennis courts and our sunset bar, the poolside is also a great place to lounge and sip on cocktails to while away a lazy island afternoon. The kiddies’ pool that makes up a portion of the pool area allows for the whole family to spend time together too.
